News from the pews

Once again I find myself in a position where the only information that is being put forward for this website is what I glean from the Parish Magazine.

If you want this website to continue and to succeed then I need information to put on it. I have asked on numerous occasions. I have already been accused of being a 'one man band' so unless someone starts trickling in information (perferably in electronic form).

I don't want to close the site but I may have to if I am not going to get your co-operation.

I have been running the site for over ten years now at my own expense and time. This has to come from you, the PCC's, the Congregations, all those who have an interest in our Benefice - Parish Council News, news from our villages, let's use this as a medium to promote the churchs, the community (our villages) please email me items, rather than me having to labouriously copy items from the magazine.

I am putting a link here for those of you that are not aware exactly what a 'Licenced Reader' is, we have our own dedicated website: Click Here To View check out the Information Tab.

We are not just random people plucked from the congregation told to put a robe on and so be it. We have a lot of hard training, to just be selected for training I had to go through an all day interview at the Diocese. After that process a combination of 4 years (2 years of CCS as a pre-requisite and then a further 2 years Reader Training) to get to a point where you 'might be' licenced. Readers are Licenced to certain parishes or post together with the whole of the Chelmford Diocese, so for those who are still in the dark ages, we are licence to a particular vicar etc. After the licencing it doesn't stop there, we 'Readers' like clergy have what is know as CME (Continuing Ministry Education) this is ongoing year on year. So no, it is not an easy vocation (especially if you are still in full time employment), but a vocation it is and one you have to be sure Christ has called you to.
